Description

Welcome to the "online extension" of the ALG - Anderson Lake Group. We invite everyone to participate in our discussion forums and to pose questions on recovery and topics relevant to recovery from alcoholism.

PLEASE NOTE that the participants here in the "online extension" may or may not adhere to the following beliefs adopted by the Group Conscience of ALG.

ALG is a Fellowship of men and women who have gone back to basics of the A.A. Program. We are an A.A. group which meets in Espanola, Ontario, Canada each Tuesday evening at 8:00pm EST.

The ALG's primary purpose is to carry THE message to the alcoholic who still suffers using only A.A.’s basic text (Big Book) which describes a proven method of recovery and which sets out clear-cut directions for recovery from alcoholism.

We do not indulge in "group therapy" sessions and our discussions are confined to the Solution to our problem.

The Members of ALG believe the following;

1. That alcoholism is not a disease in the medical sense but is rather a spiritual disease;

2. That there is a clear distinction between the A.A. Fellowship and the A.A. Program;

3. That not all members of the A.A. Fellowship are "real" alcoholics as described in the Big Book and because of this, the need for a life and death solution to a life or death problem is vanishing from the Fellowship;

4. That real alcoholics can become "recovered alcoholics" if they follow the clear-cut directions laid out in the first portion of the Big Book;

5. That Steps 1 through 9 are the Steps which establish recovery from alcoholism and that Steps 10, 11 and 12 maintain that recovery;

6. That the clear-cut directions laid out in the Big Book plainly indicate that Steps 1 through 8 need not take more than one (1) day to formally complete;

7. That the true miracle of Alcoholics Anonymous is one of common Solution and not one of common suffering;

8. That the "Solution" to the alcoholic's problem is God, as he/she understands God;

9. That members should not be subjected to the failings of sponsorship (human power) but rather that their real reliance must be upon God as they understand him;

10. That the first portion of the volume: "Alcoholics Anonymous" (Big Book) is the ultimate and final authority on the Program of Alcoholics Anonymous and contains all that is necessary to show other alcoholics HOW to recover from alcoholism;

11. That although Alcoholics Anonymous is not the only method by which alcoholics can recover from alcoholism, it is nonetheless a proven method of recovery from alcoholism;

12. That "those who do not recover are people who cannot or will not completely give themselves to this simple program".

tedm,
We render ourselves ineffective when we start to visit and entertain that which has for so long kept us in bondage. We should be focusing on our progress and ultimately being recovered. If not, in effect we are saying that this simple program does not work.
