About me: Retired, mother of one active-duty serviceman, grandmother of 3, genealogist, presently writing a historical novel about some of my ancestors in Scotland.

I am a survivor of more than just my alcoholism, too. At two years of sobriety I gave up my 3 pack a day habit with cigarettes. I stopped drinking coffee when I discovered it tore up my gut more than the alcohol! lol.
At seven years, I realized that I had been an abusive person and got help, never to have struck out in rage since then.
In 1983 I was told I had breast cancer and had to face another demon...vanity. I lost a breast and gained my life.

Between 2002 and 2004, I lost 5 members of my immediate family. I fell into a deep pit of depression and subsequently went on anti-depressants. About two years ago I decided that I did not want to live like that any further and went through a grief recovery program. At the end of the program,l (with doctors supervision of course) I was off those pills and into a new life.

Because of 2 spine surgeries and a case of tri-geminal neuralgia, I deal with pain constantly. The tri-geminal is a bit like someone running electric current through your face. The rest of the time I deal with frequent migraines. This is my life. I do a lot of things to distract myself! One is my family, Two are my f2f friends, three, my online network and four, my writing! It works. Thanks for being here for me.
